About Me

Welsh, Gloran wood carver Cân Cŷn y Gloran, carving decorative leaves and the words Robert Andrew Jones into an oak cross by hand with a sharp chisel.
The Carver

Hello there, I'm Arwyn. Whilst originally from the land of dragons (Wales), I now reside slightly further north in Scotland, having moved to my wife's hometown to be with her. When I'm not carving I am usually playing my piano, digging for potatoes, or hunting for mischief with our little dog.

A Journey to Heddwch

Starting many years ago as a form of therapy, in the shape of a roughly carved lovespoon for my wonderful mother, the wood grain led my chisel and I down a pathway I never would have expected. A love and passion that will follow me through to the next life. To this day I continue to follow the grains' pathways to serenity, with traditional hand tools in my grasp and the Awens whispering in my ear.

Why pursue a dying craft?

Beauty is in the imperfections. Machines have their place, but for true beauty, there is no match for nature's hand. While, true, it is very difficult to compete with factories and carvers from overseas, I believe it's well worth the effort in order to keep hold of a part of our heritage, and keep our art alive. I love being able to offer truly unique pieces. To create gifts and works with real meaning to people who appreciate them.

Thank You

I would just like to thank the friends and family who have supported me on my journey into carving. None of this would have been possible without you.
